In late 2009, Boston-based Litl sought to “reinvent the computer for the Internet age,” with a simple and relatively inexpensive notebook dubbed the Webbook, says Litl president Johan Bilien. But a few months later the iPad came out targeting the same market. And so that was it for the Webbook. Today however, Litl is leveraging its experience with the Webbook—particularly around managing photos—with a new app that aims to solve one of our biggest woes with the smartphone. I.e., how we perpetually seem to be running out of space for photos. “It’s really a universal problem,” Bilien said. The company’s new app, Room for More, thus aims to serve as the easiest way to free up space on your phone. The app launched about two weeks ago and is available for iOS and Android. By tapping “MOVE” in the app, users can send a batch of photos and videos from their phone to the Room for More cloud site. The photos and videos are not just copied over,  but are actually deleted from your phone too, Bilien noted. They can then be moved to a computer or hard drive by tapping “RETRIEVE PHOTOS” and also shared on social channels from the app. Room for More itself is free to download and comes with 1GB of free cloud storage. Beyond that there’s a fee of 15 cents per GB per month for storage. Photos and videos are always kept in full resolution after they’re moved to Room for More, Bilien said. Litl employs about 20 people and is based in the Back Bay, in the Boylston Street offices of its parent company, staffing agency Aquent.
